Need an emergency dentist out of hours?

How to look for urgent dental help at night, at the weekend or on a bank holiday, and what an Odenta request can and cannot do.

Dental problems do not follow office hours. Start by checking your dentist’s answerphone or website for its out-of-hours arrangements. If you cannot access urgent dental care, contact NHS 111.

Odenta lets you request care online, but it is not a 24-hour clinical advice line. Do not mistake submitting a form for having a clinician assess your symptoms.

At a glance

Seek advice early

Contact a dental professional

  • Explain your symptoms to a dentist; an online article cannot decide your diagnosis or urgency.

Need urgent help?

Dentist or NHS 111

  • For urgent symptoms, contact a dentist. If you cannot access care, call NHS 111 for advice. Do not wait on a routine NHS waiting list.

Medical emergency

999 or A&E

  • Breathing or swallowing difficulty, serious facial injury, eye involvement with swelling, or heavy uncontrolled bleeding need emergency medical help. Do not wait for an Odenta offer.

What happens when dental practices are closed?

An out-of-hours request may have to wait for a suitable participating practice to reopen. Appointment offers depend on practice capacity and suitability. If you need clinical advice now, use your dentist’s out-of-hours service or NHS 111 rather than waiting for the website to respond.

Saturday, Sunday and bank-holiday appointments

Availability varies by area and practice. Check the actual offered appointment time, travel requirements and fees before accepting. Do not travel to a practice expecting a walk-in appointment unless it has confirmed this with you.

How Odenta can help

  1. 1Submit an urgent-care request with your location and symptoms.
  2. 2Watch for an offer from a participating practice; a request alone does not confirm an appointment.
  3. 3Review the offer and follow the confirmation steps. Contact urgent services if symptoms worsen while waiting.

Frequently asked questions

Does submitting at midnight mean I will see a dentist tonight?

No. Online submission and clinical opening hours are different. Odenta cannot promise overnight or same-day treatment.

Should I submit the same request again in the morning?

Do not repeatedly submit duplicate requests just because practices were closed. Follow the existing request updates and seek direct professional advice if your symptoms need earlier attention.

Can I wait until Monday?

Do not choose a delay solely because it is the weekend. Ask a dental professional or NHS 111 how urgently you need assessment.

Can I book before a practice opens?

You can submit a request through Odenta. You only have a booking after receiving and confirming a suitable offer through the stated steps.

Does “open online” mean a dentist is monitoring me?

No. Odenta is an appointment-access platform. It is not continuous clinical monitoring or a substitute for urgent professional advice.

Request an urgent dental appointment

Share your location and symptoms with Odenta to request help from participating dental practices. Seek professional advice early and do not wait for an offer if symptoms need immediate care. Odenta does not diagnose or provide treatment; appointment offers depend on availability and clinical suitability, and care is provided by the participating practice.
